Oh, how the time flies. It’s already your third week at WestConn and, no, it won’t start going by any faster. We’ve only just begun…

But I digress. On Monday, Sept. 9, stop by Room 112 in White Hall at 12:30 p.m. for a discussion on mental health with guest speaker Laura DiGalbo, presented by WCSU’s AccessAbility Services, Counseling Center, and the Office of Diversity and Equity. If you’re looking for something a little less engaging, you can head over to the Midtown Student Center Lobby between noon and 3:00 p.m. for cactus decorating, presented by the Program Activities Council.

On Tuesday, Laura DiGalbo will lead another discussion on mental health in the Ballroom of the Westside Student Center at 1:00 p.m., and local restaurants and merchants will be in the Midtown Student Center Plaza from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the first annual Downtown Danbury Fair. Men’s Soccer will be on the road against Coast Guard at 6:00 p.m. for the final game of their five-game road trip, and the Institute for Holistic Health Studies will host the Mudra Meditation series in Warner Hall Room 103 at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, students majoring in business and law administration or those looking for more information about Ancell School of Business are invited to the south plaza outside the Westside Campus Center from 11:30am to 1:30 p.m. for food, games, and more. If you haven’t had your fill of free food yet, head over to the Newman Center for a beginning of the year cookout at 5:00 p.m. in the Newman Center on 7 Eighth Ave. near the Midtown Campus. Women’s Soccer will head to Poughkeepsie for a 4:00 p.m. start at Vassar, Field Hockey will travel to Vassar for a 7:00 p.m. matchup, and Volleyball will take on Trinity in Hartford, Conn. at 7:00 p.m. You can stream the Volleyball match here:

On Thursday, stop by the Fairfield Hall lawn between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for Fresh-Check Day, a mental health program presented by The Jordan Porco Foundation. For more information on the program, check out

The WestConn Entrepreneurial Society and E.R.I.C. will present the second in a series of six entrepreneurial workshops from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Westside Campus Center, which you can register for at, and Coffeehouse will be back in the Midtown Student Center at 8:00 p.m., featuring an all-night open mic.

Men’s Golf will open their season at the MCLA Tournament with 10:00 a.m. start, Women’s Tennis will travel to St. Joseph (Conn.) for a 4:00 p.m. match, and Men’s Soccer will host Emmanuel (Mass.) in their home opener at 7:00 p.m. You can stream the Men’s Soccer game here:

On Friday night, Volleyball will host Morrisville St. in the O’Neill Center at 7:00 p.m., but if you’re of legal drinking age, stop by the Drawing Studio in the VPA, Room 241, for Sip & Sketch, presented by the Department of Art, for live models, music, wine, and light refreshments. Volleyball will be back in the O’Neill Center at 10:00 a.m. for match against Wesleyan (Conn.). Field Hockey will take on Plymouth St. at 11:00 a.m. in the WAC in their LEC opener, and Women’s Tennis will travel to Mass.-Boston for a 1:00 p.m. start. Women’s Soccer will take on Western New England at 2:00 p.m. in the WAC. Volleyball closes out their double-header at home with 4:00 p.m. start vs. Vassar.
