Networking is more than brushing your fingers over your phone touchpad.

The WCSU Alumni Association, Student Government Association, and Career Success Center will be hosting the “Alumni & Student Meet & Greet” on Tuesday, April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Westside Campus Center Ballroom. This informative and dynamic mixer welcomes all students, alumni, and the campus community to join an interactive and live environment of networking.

This meet & greet will be a facilitated event, which offers quick vignettes on the “how” of live networking, and will be an efficient way for students to meet and mingle with alumni to learn about opportunities in the workplace and in the community. All students will benefit from learning the process of meeting people for the purpose of making real connections for potential jobs, while also gaining insight into various industries and job prospects. Even opportunities to learn about the details of career choices, how to interview, and how to land a job or internship before and after graduation will be possible through these conversations.

Students are encouraged to bring their classmates and come prepared to have fun, while dressing presentably with a business casual attire. Popular etiquette expert Robert Shutt is coming back to WCSU as the event facilitator and will provide entertaining anecdotes, tips and advice on mingling strategies, such as how to make a positive statement and polish your image. The aim is for attendees to gain more confidence in career and job searches while enjoying food, refreshments and a raffle.

With so many alums present, this is also an opportunity for alumni to meet and reconnect with each other and with faculty, while providing advice, mentorship, and potential job/internship tips to students. This event is free and open to the entire campus community, and registration is available at http://www.wcsu.edu/student-affairs/rsvp/.

The Career Success Center Studio (Campus Center Suite 300) is open for advice on pre-event tips and can also be reached via email careersuccess@wcsu.edu and on :www.wcsu.edu/careersuccess
