This week, from today, April 11th until Thursday April 14th, the Roots and Shoots club at Westconn is going to be hosting its annual ‘Animal Week’, a popular spring time event, at the university’s midtown and westside campuses.
The event is free to and open to both students and the public. All events will take place at the midtown campus, 181 White Street Danbury CT 06810, except for the April 14th event, which will take place at the westside campus, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury CT 06811.
The Jane Goodall Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies established this event to advocate for environmental issues and global conservation.
The events will include:
Monday, April 11th: “Birds of Prey” featuring birds from “A Place Called Hope” in Killingsworth, CT.
Tuesday, April 12th: “Reptiles on the Move” Various types of reptiles will be on display for viewing at the Midtown Student Center Theater.
Wednesday, April 13th: “Animal Demonstration” featuring Animal Adventures, a rescue organization from Bolton, Massachusetts. A trainer will showcase different animals at the midtown campus.
Thursday, April 14th: “Animal Week Concert” A concert, from 5-10 PM, will take place on the patio of the Westside Campus Center. Performances will include local bands such as Zanders, The Recess Bureau, Amnesia Pellets, SPECTRAL FANGS, King Bongo, Hovel, SLOOF, and The Human Sky. Monetary donations and supplies will be collected, like paper towels, canned wet food, and hand soap. Money collected will fund food and supplies for the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS).
