The Western Connecticut State University women’s basketball team played the Anna Maria AMCATS Thursday night. This was a non-conference game thinking it wouldn’t be one sided.

But the Colonials dominated when they first hit the floor. In the first five minutes of the first quarter the Colonials jumped out to a 12-0 run leaving the AMCATS in the dust.

The Colonials were not looking back at that point. They kept increasing there lead when they at there largest lead in the first quarter of 21-7.

In the second quarter, the Colonials were playing very aggressive on defense as they forced turnovers and got defensive rebounds. They increased there dominate lead by 28 points making the score 41-13. The AMCATS had some fight left in them as the ended the second quarter on a 9-2 run to make the score 43-22.

Going in to half time, the AMCATS had to figure out something to slow down this dominated Colonial team. But the Colonials kept doing what they did in the first half.

At the start of the second half, the AMCATS kept pace with the Colonials. They felt good and thought they were figuring them out. But at the end of the half the Colonials went on a 8-2 run which made the score 63-34, a 29 point lead.

In the fourth quarter it was all Colonials. They scored the first eight points in the final quarter to make it there biggest lead of the night leading by 37 points, the score was 71-34.

Coach Kimberley Rybczyk of the Colonials started to realize they were so dominate tonight she started to take out the starters to let some of the bench players have some action.

The Colonials closed out the game in a relaxed fashion as they beat the AMCATS by 32 points making the final score 78-46.

This helped the Colonials keep there streak going as they won four in a row. They improve to 14-6 overall with a 7-2 conference record.

Forward Alyssa Eannotti finished as the high scorer with 17 points and was on the floor the most with  minutes. Alecia Dulaire had a dominate night on the boards racking up 10 rebounds.

The Colonials will be traveling for there next game. They go back to a in conference game as they face UMASS Dartmouth on Saturday Feburary 5th. They faced each other earlier in the season and the Colonials came on top 70-60.
