Stars Come Together for the Met Gala!

On Monday, May 4, stars of music, film, television, and fashion (and the category Kim Kardashian falls under) came together for fashion’s biggest night in New York City: the Met Gala. This year’s theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. And though some celebrities did not come close, others certainly looked the part.

Anna Wintour, overseer of the fundraising event, which supports the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute, set out one rule for the night that many would find difficult not to break because the world seems to revolve around them, and that is ‘selfies.’ No selfies were allowed in order to maintain guests’ security and enjoyment of the event, according to some reports.

Still, celebrities showed out on their twitter and instagram. Some of the jaw dropping moments included Rihanna, who walked the red carpet in an interesting yet grand yellow gown courtesy of Guo Pei Haute Couture. Fans immediately took to social media to create memes of the Barbadian beauty’s look. Egg anyone? And few like Beyoncé who wowed in Givenchy, and Kim Kardashian in Roberto Cavalli, left little to the imagination as the two sparkled their way through.

Other favorites were Sarah Jessica Parker who was also the target of hilarious memes thanks to her headwear. And Jennifer Lopez did not disappoint in Versace. But let’s not forget about the men! Solo or not, the guys exuded confidence and sex appeal such as Actor Michael B. Jordan in Dolce & Gabbana and Justin Bieber rocking a Balmain blazer.

Overall, fashion was the talk of the night, unlike last year’s met ball. One word: elevator.
